Lenk-Simmental, a hiker's and family paradise in the Bernese Oberland, with its snug chalets and the Wildstrubel Massif in the background forms probably the most beautiful valley end in the Alps. Lenk in summer: Over 600 km of signposted hiking trails and 250 km of bike routes run through untouched countryside from the plain at the bottom of the valley all the way up into the mountains offering a fabulous all-round view of the Simmental's countless peaks. Lenk in winter: The Adelboden - Lenk ski region with its 58 ski lifts and a 185-kilometre piste network is one of the biggest winter destinations in Switzerland. Surrounded by an attractive mountainscape, winter visitors from December until April find everything - from wide carving pistes and snowboard parks to challenging downhill slopes and high altitude cross-country skiing trails - they could possibly desire.
Autobahn Bern A6, exit Wimmis/Zweisimmen; from Bern it is 40 km to the entrance to the Simmental valley, and 90 km up to Lenk.
